How Custom Diamond Painting Works: From Photo to Canvas
Follow the process from photo upload and option selection to image conversion, production, shipment, and realistic expectations.
A custom diamond painting converts a photo into a symbol-coded canvas and matching drill palette. The finished result depends on the source image, crop, selected dimensions, and how the picture is translated into a grid.
Step 1: select and upload the photo
Choose the original high-resolution file when possible. The subject should be clear, well lit, and large enough in the frame. Review the photo selection guide before submitting.
Step 2: choose the product options
Select an available canvas size, drill shape, and framing option shown on the product page. More detailed images generally need more canvas area. If several faces or small features matter, avoid choosing only by price.
Step 3: image review and clarification
We may contact you when the image is too dark, heavily compressed, poorly cropped, unclear, or technically unsuitable for the selected option. Responding promptly helps prevent processing delays.
A photo review is not a guarantee that every detail will reproduce exactly. The customer remains responsible for the source image and the rights to use it.
Step 4: conversion to a diamond painting design
The photo is translated into a grid of symbols and a practical drill palette. This may involve cropping, color grouping, contrast adjustment, and simplification of details that are too small for the selected canvas.
Step 5: made-to-order production
The coded canvas and matching drills are prepared for the individual order. Custom products normally require 2–4 business days of processing before dispatch.
Step 6: shipment and tracking
After dispatch, we email tracking information. Delivery estimates depend on the destination and begin after processing. Review the Shipping & Delivery Policy.
What reasonable differences should you expect?
- Colors can look different between a backlit screen, printed canvas, drills, and indoor lighting.
- Very fine features can be simplified into larger blocks.
- The crop may need adjustment to match the selected orientation.
- Background details may be reduced to keep the main subject recognizable.
- Drill colors create a mosaic interpretation, not a photographic print.
Can a custom order be returned?
Personalized products are normally excluded from voluntary change-of-mind returns after production begins. We still review damage, incorrect production, faults, or an outcome materially inconsistent with the agreed order. Read the Returns Policy.
